Squiggle Story

Once upon a time in a place called ugly-land their was the ugly empire. Sam was the queen. Sam lived in the most high tech palace in ugly-land. Sam had enimes and they were Jax and and the princess Sivan. They enimes because Sivan's the pretty one and Sam's the ugly one. For year's they wanted to destroy each other.

One afternoon Sam went to Sivan's yard with her guards and when they came they shot the house with a rifle but the house was made out of hard metal so it was hard to shot though. they metal made some of the bullets reflected at there guards but they found a window that was open. Sivan was in the window watching the guards get hurt. So when they saw the window they shot at the window so that meant Sivan died! So Jax got their machine gun which they saved for emergency's that was in the basement and ran upstairs with the machine gun and shot everyone including the queen!

So Jax took leadership of King!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Unexpected Package

In a small town called Johnvilla there were 17 houses and 8 shops and 1 farm which the Dich family lived in. It was 5:00 on Guy Falkes day when the Dich family was made of Mum, Dad and his sister Olivia. jack and the Dich family went to the Warehouse and got some fireworks

But while they went out to the Warehouse a man with a black hat delivered an unexpected package this wasn’t an ordinary package. It was made of blue cardboard and it was small and thin.

Once Jack and his family arrived back at the farm ,Jack saw the unexpected package on their deck so the family rushed over and opened the unexpected package because they don’t normally get package’s. They were so shocked with what they saw that they jumped. Mum asked Jack if he was the one who ordered the mask. Jack said “no!”

Then Jack put on the mask and said “this is a comfortable mask, would you like to have a sister?” “Yes please” said Olivia. “Um, could you help me to take it off please?” said Jack.“Ok” said Olivia. Olivia comes over and pulls on the mask. “It’s stuck, Mum” said Jack. “Ahh, Mum!” The comfortable stuff is foam and the foam just peeled off. “I can see there is a timer with 5 hours left and a load of wires and it says highly explosive.” said Jack. “Mum, what was the address of the sender quick” said Jack. “ 478 Grandly Drive” said the Mum.

The family hopped in the car and off they went. Once they got to the sender’s address they hopped out of the car and sprinted to the house. The house was just an ordinary house. They knocked on 478 Grandly Drives’ house. A guy with a black hat, black suit and black shoes welcomed them in! Jack asked straight away if he was the one who sent him the mask. Jack said “why?” “because you bully my child” said the man in black. He said you pick him up and throw him into the bin and also you shove him every class

Ok how about we make a deal” said Jack freaking out. “Fine” said the man in black and he got the mask off with a crowbar and at school they became friends and lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time in a dark forest 3 boys were travelling to there home to there village for halloween when they heard a voice behind them so they turned around and saw a black shadow. They dashed to there village hopping that they could out run them the black shadow was chasing them. They could see the village but the black shadow covered there mouths so they couldn’t talk. The shadow took them away into his sceret layer. He tied the three to three chair’s and revealed his self. Then he let the there rott to death!!!!!!!!!!!

Squiggle Story

Once upon a time there was a kid called Frank. He was the class clown he would make people laugh and laugh. He was very naughty to his mum and every week he would get at least one detention per week. He wanted to make a change that he only he could do. One night he lost a tooth so he put the white tooth under his pillow and stayed awake. When the tooth fairy came he grabbed the tooth fairy and said “ I want to be able to hypnotize people.”When he went to school he said ” hi “ to his teacher and then hypnotize her by looking into her eye’s. Then he did it to the children as well and lived like that for the rest of his life.

He made them go and steal jewels and gold and to take over the world leaving him to be king. Eventually he got all the money in the would and all the jewels.

Overall he had all the money in the world but no friends. By Roman!!   

       

Roman's Special!!!

Hi, i’m Roman and if your curious i’m going to tell you why i’m going to tell you why i’m special and the activities that I like to challenge myself at. The three words that represented me are keeping secrets, challenging myself and initiative.

I’m very good at keeping secrets. example: I kept Jax’s secret when he didn't want anyone to know. Also I listen very carefully to people secrets so if I understand what they say and I don’t think of it in the wrong way. Thirdly when someone dose tell me something I won’t tell it to friends, teachers and family!

I’m very good at challenging myself like when I did cross country I set goals like getting a place better every year and not sprinting at the start. Also at every single subject I give it my all to improve and get higher scores.I am a problem solver if there is a problem for maths for the week I will find ways to get through and I persist through a problem so I can get the answer right not just rushing!

Thirdly when nobody is looking at what i’m doing I will do the right thing anyway. If I don’t get seen doing something good I won’t say did you see what I did. I’m always doing the right thing.          

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race


On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th Roman.H participated in a meeting called Citrus.

When Roman and Brian arrived, Roman played handball for 20 minutes until the stewards called all drivers to the grid including Roman and Brian. They talked to all the racing drivers and the parent or gain drivers briefing about where to stop if there is a red flag, Grid orders and many more things. Once it was 9:00 racing starting. When the time came, they called Vortex Mini Rok up to the grid so he started to walk up to the grid with his helpmate, gloves and neck brace and checked the board to see the grid that Roman was on. Soon Brian came with Roman’s Kosmic Go-kart. Once everyone's go-kart was on the grid the gate person called Bruce opened the gate and let them go out the gate. On the second lap they they were racing when the checked flag came out Roman came 10th in that race. On the 4th race Roman came 13th because of the rain. When the time came for the final, (the final was 26 laps) Roman got really tired but he kept on going and came 10th overall.

Then there was prize giving and Roman had to say a speech so he did. After prize giving Roman.H, Ruby.O , Clay.O , Blake.A and Taylor.H went to the big water fall!

IT WAS THE BEST DAY EVER!

Tuesday Winter Field Day

On Tuesday the 18th Meadowbank school participated in the Auckland sports exchange sending four castigators going. They were hoping that it was going to be a successful day.

Roman Harker-Ferguson participated in rugby under 50kg team and won 3 games with a mixed team.

On the first game the opposition team won 5-1/ it was a very tough game!!! On the second game we played very hard and won. 

Overall my team had a successful day .

Dogo News

The 6 Story

                                                                                                              Hi my name is six and the language that I speak is Sixaner and in six days I will turn 6. Six people will come to my sixth birthday party. I will get a six layered birthday cake, with six candles. I have six allergy and I have lived in six houses' in six different country's. I've six friends and I have six family that live in six country's. On my sixth birthday I had six up which was my sixth favorite drink. Once everyone got here everyone had a sixth of a cake to there self. Once people left it was six O'clock so I had to go to bed.

The Batman Story

Once upon a time in Superville there was a super shop which had potions and spells to get you fit and healthy. One day there was a robber that was looking for spells at night. (He absolutely trashed the place). He was called Robin and Batman but before they got there Robins dad called Robin star was waiting for Robin and Batman.

Once Robin and Batman came they said "what happened""um" said the shop owner said "this person right here did the job "swish" Robins dad was gone. The shop owner had a power of smartness. The next night a thief brock in "smash" he brock the door. The shop owner was smart he added security camera's flashing the front door. The next morning they had a look at the person and what he was wearing. Once they had a look they saw he was wearing black, yellow, green and red. Then they saw he was wearing a golden belt on his waist which said" Robin Star. They went to his father. Then knocked he said " go away" in a greedy way. So they climbed through the window and snuck down the hallway. On the potions they saw a sicker saying potions shop.

After that they took him to prison and lived happily ever after.    

The Black Hat

Once upon a time there was a boy called nuke he lived in a woods with his elderly grandmother. There weren't many things a lonely boy could do so he went for forest walks hoping he would find something new like a bird. His ears loved listening to the birds chipping.

One day he found a Black hat left in a cave so he picked it up and put it on his head.  He was shocked because some birds came out out a hat one night. So he kept them in cages in his room (they were very rare). The next day he took another stroll in the forest. He saw one of his rainbow birds on top of the tallest tree in the forest.

So ran back home and saw if his grandmother had seen any of his other birds gone missing but she said "yes" they left but there is some other birds were sill there in his room but all other birds out in the forest. Then he realized the beat inside them so he let the beautiful birds out. Then they put on a show and lived every ever after.(besides him).

The Bridge

Once upon a time there was a moose called Fred and a bear called Jones. They were
leaders of their clan. One day Fred was going to get some wood to build his hut
and Jones was going to get some food for his clan. But first they had to get past each
other. So they pushed they shoved. Then they thought about a strategy. Then bother of
them tryed to get past each other but they were to hard. Then the bear pointed were he
wanted to go and the moose said no. Then the moose pointed were he wanted to go and
the bear got angry. Then a raccoon came to help but the bear whacked him and throw
him away. Then a rabbit came and tryed to help but the moose just didn't listen he kicked
him with all his might.  The rabbit and the raccoon masticated the bridge rope. Minutes later
The leaders of the clan fell in horror and died. But the  rabbit and the raccoon still wanted to
get past when they reached the middle the raccoon lied on the ground wile the rabbit jumped over.

Changing the NZ flag

Did you know that it could cost over 30 million dollars just to change the New Zealand flag? I believe that we should keep the current flag that has represented the country many for years and I’m going to tell you why, we could be using this money on other things in New Zealand, people might get into fights or maybe war, and we are well known and won 2 Rugby world cups...soon to be 3.  

Firstly changing the flag costs a lot of money that we could be using for many different things. The build-up itself will cost 25.7 million just to vote whenever we change the flag. The 25 million dollars could fund the entire Kids Can Programe for eight years, thats eight years, New Zealand! All of our parents are voting and paying. In total it will cost over 90 million or more just to change the New Zealand flag. Is it really worth it?

We should not change the current flag because it is and has been a huge part of our history. In World War 1 brave kiwis fought under the flag. New Zealand has also been part of the Olympics 5 times and guess what flag we had then! Also in 2015 the flag represented our country in the Fifa world cup. Would you like to get rid of this history?

Futhermore not many people actually want to change the flag. So the goverment did a poll and asked if it was time for New Zealand to design a flag for itself, 25 per cent said “yes” and 70 per cent said “no”.  If people don't want to change the flag, there could be fights and people might get angry. There would be endless debates on what we change it to as so many people want different things. Some people want the silver fern while others want something completely different. No matter what the new flag is changed to, not everyone will be satisfied.

Overall I strongly disagree with the government that New Zealand should change its current flag.

Clash of Clans Lion

Once upon a time there was a lion who played clash of clans. One day the lion took the the ipad and put it under his bed and set an alarm for 1:00 am. When the clock struck 1:00 am the alam went off and he put in his password which was 1144 and went on his clash of clans account and went on his goble chat and said “ is there any girls on?” and a girl called Girl are awsome said “ yes.” The lion said come to my house at 12:00 pm. My house street is 1883 Condel street. The next day she came to his house  with some Police and the lion got arrested and got put in        jail.                   THIS ONE

The light is actually made up of all the colours of the rainbow.
You can test this or see for yourself by using a prism or a piece of glass, this breaks the sunlight up into it's rainbow coloured parts.

Amber and Me - A Fairy Tale

"For The Birds"

Once upon a time there was a little blue bird.It wanted to take over the world and rule the power lines. One day he was relaxing on the power lines and suddenly another little blue bird came so they came and started fighting. Then 13 more little blue birds came and they all started fighting. Then a another bird did a strange call and all of them looked. The other bird came over and sat in the middle of all the little bluebirds. They tickled him over and over so he jumped and was hanging by his feet. The birds didn't like him so they pecked at his feet. Suddenly he was hanging by one toe. His head was touching the ground. One of the little blue birds looked down. The big blue bird fell and all the other little blue birds went flinging upwards. When the bird landed they were naked and the other birds laughed and hid behind him.

A Cloudy Lesson

Once upon a time there was a curious kid, he lived with his amazing grandma and grandad. 

One day his grandad took him to a mysterious place on the amazing Earth. Suddenly the grandad pulled out a box which had black on the outside. When he opened the box he saw a wand with a soft red clock which was very soft, as soft as a pillow. Then he saw a silvery wand so his grandad pulled the wand out and the grandad did the hardest blow of his life, it was like he was blowing a car up and so his grandson wanted to have a go so the granddad said "yes." 

When the grandson he blew in it, he took a breath breath and let it out but only a little speck came out; it was as small as an ant. 

After that his grandad blew harder so he blew harder and moved closer. Suddenly he fell and he looked at the wand and pulled it in a strange way. He saw it was broken and reformed it and made it into a star and gave it to his granddad. His granddad took a blow and out came a star. Then he shaped a bunny. 

They lived happily ever after. And that's how different shaped clouds were invented.

My hard maths goal

I think I've practiced my maths goals and improved because I've been on Mathletics and practiced Grouping within 1000 and division and finished my division facts. On my Grouping within 1000 I got them correct. My next step is to do fractions and decimals. When tested I was tricked by decimals and fractions. I think I've finished my maths goals.

Editing

I think I've improved in my editing by using the dictionary and asking my teacher to look at my work. My teacher thinks I got better and improved. I think my next step is to use ( ), < > , : ; .

The Catch

Once upon a time there lived a village called The Catch. It was a very boring and sad village they were the last ones to survive. There was a little kid called Likey there was a dad called Dum and a mum called Sum. One day Dum died and he was the one that got all the food. A couple days later they  had a funeral for Dum. They were running out of food. They only had one tin of bake beans and two fish. That very day Sum said " Can you please go do to the pond" "Ok" said Likey. "I'll be back at 10:00am" "OK" said Likey. So he set off to the pond to get the fish, firstly he had to past the guards which were the bosses of the tiny town. Once he got past the guards he was nearly there he just had to get past the foxes. He crept over the foxes but one of the cubs woke up and followed him. Eventually he got to the pond. Suddenly he heard a fox howls so he went and check it out. He saw a young fox howling trapped in a vine. So he crept up in a mysterious way. The fox thought he was going to kill him. Once he freed the fox the fox was angry and rammed Likey over. Then after he rammed him he took his fish and took him though some torn bushes and up a mountain. Eventually he got to the fox and was very mad but suddenly the clouds moved and a massive fish jumped so he got very excited and went fishing. He jigged and got that massive fish. Once he returned to the village Sum and Likey live happily ever after.

Key Competency

I think I've achieved not getting angry at people. I did this by walking away. I sometimes told the teacher or adults on people. I'm happy that my teacher split my friends up.

Reading/ read with fluncy and write with fluncy

I think I've achieved this goal by reading and doing descriptive work. I can read with fluency and write with fluency. I've asked some people and they think I've used fluency. I haven't finished my word wall because I forgot about it.

Clock tower writing

Once upon a time there live five evil witches that put a curse on a place called Maloog. It had the least people in history .They called the name Maloog because the chief of the town was cursed with the most powerful spell ever invented but before that he got married and he had a daughter called Bella; everyone love her. A couple days later one of the witches came and stole all the children in Maloog. So the parents went looking for their children and never returned. But little Bella was in the clock tower. So she raised herself in the clock tower.

A couple days later the witches went to the tower to have some lunch so she hid in a cardboard box filled with wigs and dresses. Soon the witches looked in boxes for money. She was very scared, she thought the witches might turn her into a pet or a cargo drive in. They reached the last box she was in. She jumped out and gave the witches a massive fright and straight away the witches put a curse on her which was that she was a part of the biggest clock in the world. If she went outside it would stop because it needs her to spin like a ballerina and that is the end.

Go-karting

On Sunday the 19th of April I was going to race. We left at 6:45 am to go to the go-kart track. My pop drove his Ute with me and my friends. On the way there I looked out the window and saw no traffic, only like 10 cars or a bit more. It took about 20 minutes to get there.Once we go to the go-carting track I hopped out and went to see my friends outside.

When my dad arrived about 6:49 at the go-carting track he also came in a Ute with Luke,my friends dad. Once my dad came he brought the go-kart trailer. Then we got the go-kart ready and took off the wrap around the tires and revved the kart up like it was a big lion roaring. After I got my kart ready I walked off to find my friends. Once I found my friends I went and talked to them. After we talked I had to put my race suit and boots on. Then at 7:00am it was time to race.

Once the studs arrived we had a drivers briefing and it took about 5 minutes and then they read out the order. I was 2nd to the grid. When it was my turn in the practice I spun out at flag point 6 and 7 corner.Then the heats went on and the day ended.

Once racing ended Meagan picked me up and took me to Tauranga they took me to my aunties house. Once I arrived I watched Home and Away and then played UNO and then went on my flight to Auckland

Cinderella

Today my dad said I could pick my wife. People arrived at 7:00 PM, I couldn't find the one, the perfect, the only one but then she came and straight away people looked "it is like gold, she was gold". So I said "would you marry me?" Cinderella said "YES!" we danced all night long and then as the clock struck 12:00 PM suddenly she went out of my arms and spun like she was a piece of spring "BOING". I was determined to find her, Cinerella lost her glass slipper on the stairs in her rush to leave. I picked up the slipper and said to my servant "search every house, every girl, go search I want her now!". At the last house two mean looking sisters tried on the slipper, they tried so hard but they couldn't fit the slipper. The last person to try on the glass slipper was Cinderella who was just coming down from her room upstairs, the servant and said "please try this on?". Cinderella tried the slipper on and it fit! 

At that moment the servant had the happiest face in the world, Cinderella returned to the castle and lived happily ever after....with me, the prince.

New words

Dawn means the start of the day when the sun rises.

Dusk means when the sun goes down.

Horizon is when you can see a long distance, where the sky mets the land/sea.

Horizontal means a flat straight line.

Determination means working at your goals until you achieve them.

What: antelope hits a 17 year old biker.

Who: Evan van der Spuy.


Where: South Africa.


Why: While the Antelope possess an excellent sense of smell and hearing, they are known to have very poor eyesight, which explains the collision.

I would pick Riga in Latvia because I would like to try ice skating on real ice and because it snows in a lot. Latvia is in northern Europe. I also would like it because I like racing cars. I would like to go to Cēsis Castle in Riga.

My favorite hobby is soccer, because I've been playing soccer since I was young. At school I like to play when the teams are fair. My favorite part is scoring and saving goals. At school my favorite position is goal keeper because it feels good when I stop the other team scoring a goal. I like soccer very much.

YouthTown

On Wednesday YouthTown brought some equipment for EOTC week. In my group I had one of my best friends which was Lachlan. My group was in group  "A" with a lot more people.

My groups first activity was Ti Pi building, we failed because first our group couldn't get the tarpaulin over the Ti Pi. Our groups Ti Pi fell down which was annoying. But we kept on trying but it didn't work but in the end at least we tried. Then after one hour it was morning tea.

At the Ti Pi building we moved onto the Flintstones car. When we got to the Flintstones car building one of the Youthtown people said the instructions. Then we learnt 2 new knots which is the kabinders hitch and the glove hitch. Then we started to build the Flintstones car. The thing that we had was 2 barrels, 8 bamboo poles, and 9 ropes. Then our group got started. Firstly my group got the barrels and did a kabinders hitch over the 2 pieces of bamboo and then it was stuck together and did the back. Then we added seats. Then the boys and girls pushed the Flintstones car till everyone got a turn and walked down to archery with Miss Cooper.

Once my group got to archery the instructions person said "sit down please" so my group sat down and he explained the rules and put the group into two teams so it was quick. The first time was a practice. The equipment was real bows and real arrows. It was very hard because I haven't done it before. On the first real game I got a red,blue and a black which was surprising because the first practice I missed every single arrow. After one hour we moved to problem solving.

My mum was running this with Jenneane. The first game was minefield and everyone died on their first turn but Lachlan on his second go made it. The next game was gutter ball which is people get one gutter each and you try to get a golf ball into a plastic cup. My group was the only group that got the ball in the plastic cup. Our next activity was crocodile river which is a game with planks and you have to try to get to the of the river with out falling off. After problem solving my group walked to the walkie talkies.

Once my group got there we had a little play, then we played knots and crosses on the walkie talkies. Me and Lachlan were a group, Ruby and her friend were a group and then we many more. When we started the walkie talkie didn't work because it was the one that didn't connect, so it was very very boring. For awhile the people thought we didn't talk. So then the hour went so quick that it was the end of the day.

                                             

Term One Reflection

1. What did you enjoy most in the term? Why?
     I enjoyed EOTC week because there were some funny activity's and I learnt two knots.

2. What did you enjoy doing most in the classroom? Why?
     I enjoyed silent ball because I learnt some skills and I won two game.

3. What have you found hard in your learning this term? Explain.
   I found reading hard because there are so many parts.

4. What are you most pleased with in your learning? Why?
     I am pleased with my crack the code and ice cream problem because I got the crack the code right and the ice cream but the ice cream problem I didn't but now I know how to do it next time.

5. Tell us one thing you would like to learn about in Term 2.
    I would like to do more playing P.E.

I am an athlete who is a boy and wants to race cars on dirt tracks when I'm eighteen years old for my future. I am great at my homework and ICT skills. I wish I was as fast as a Jaguar. At the moment I race go-karts. I think lemon is the most sour fruit in the world. I live in New Zealand which is the best country. Orange is my favorite fruit, I like the pips in the orange too. I don't really like being quiet. My name is Roman and I like planting seeds to help the earth. For go-karting I race on a track specially used for go-karts. My dad drives his van around for go-karting. My dad driver trains people in wet and sunny weather. When I was 5 I had to have X-rays and my arm turned yellow and my muscle went weak. I wish my cast had a zip because it stank.

My writing goal is going to be editing because I don't edit and check my work.

 I will do this by using a dictionary or asking a buddy to check my work. I will check for spelling mistakes and punctuation as well. I will see if my work makes sense.

EOTC week

1. How are you feeling after EOTC week? Explain. 

EOTC week was the best week at school I've ever had.   

2. What did you enjoy most during EOTC week? Explain. 

My favorite was Youthtown because they bring cool activities. My second favourite was at the swimming pools because we learned water safety, plus how to put on a life jacket and what to do in a

rip. In free time I got chased by 6 girls.

3. What was your least favorite thing about EOTC week? Explain. 

My least favorite was the marae because one of the things was pulling out the grass which was boring!!!

4. Tell us about something new that you learned. 

I learned how to get my life jacket on in the water so from now on I'll be okay.
